Neutrophil cytoplasmic Ab.perinuclear
Detects perinuclear antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies in the blood.
Why This Biomarker Matters
Positive p-ANCA results suggest autoimmune vasculitis, a serious condition requiring prompt diagnosis and treatment to prevent organ damage.
Overview
This test detects perinuclear antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (p-ANCA), which are antibodies the immune system produces against proteins in neutrophils (white blood cells). Elevated p-ANCA levels are associated with certain autoimmune vasculitides, primarily microscopic polyangiitis and granulomatosis with polyangiitis. These conditions cause inflammation of blood vessels, affecting the lungs, kidneys, and other organs. A positive p-ANCA test supports diagnosis of these serious autoimmune conditions and helps guide treatment decisions.
