Luteinizing hormone (LH), also called lutropin, is produced by the pituitary gland and plays a crucial role in reproductive health. In women, LH surges to trigger ovulation; in men, it stimulates testosterone production. Abnormal LH levels can indicate hormonal imbalances, fertility problems, menopause, hypogonadism, or pituitary disorders. This test is commonly used to evaluate fertility issues, irregular periods, and hormone-related conditions in both sexes.
Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) is produced by the pituitary gland and regulates reproductive function—controlling egg production in women and sperm production in men. A 24-hour urine FSH test measures hormone excretion, reflecting pituitary and reproductive gland function. Abnormal levels may indicate menopause, fertility problems, pituitary disorders, or hormonal imbalances. This test is often used to assess reproductive status and evaluate infertility or menopausal symptoms.
