Rheumatoid factor

Rheumatoid factor (RF) is an antibody that the immune system produces in some people. A positive RF test suggests the body is attacking its own tissues, which is characteristic of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and other autoimmune conditions. However, RF can be positive without disease, and some RA patients test negative. RF is typically ordered along with other autoimmune markers like anti-CCP when evaluating joint pain or suspected autoimmune disease. Results help guide diagnosis and treatment decisions.

Urate

This test measures urate (uric acid) levels in amniotic fluid during pregnancy. Urate is a breakdown product of purine metabolism. Elevated amniotic fluid urate may reflect fetal kidney function or metabolic status. This specialized test is used in prenatal assessment to evaluate fetal well-being and detect certain metabolic disorders or kidney dysfunction in the developing fetus.

C reactive protein

C-reactive protein (CRP) is an acute-phase protein produced by the liver in response to inflammation. Measured in serum or plasma, CRP is one of the most widely used markers of systemic inflammation. It rises rapidly (within hours) in response to bacterial infections, autoimmune flares, tissue injury, and malignancy. High-sensitivity CRP (hs-CRP) at lower levels is used for cardiovascular risk stratification. CRP is valuable for monitoring treatment response in rheumatologic conditions, infections, and post-surgical recovery. Unlike ESR, CRP responds quickly to changes in inflammatory status.

Erythrocyte

The erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) measures how quickly red blood cells settle in a test tube over one hour. This simple test reflects inflammation levels in your body. Elevated ESR can indicate infections, autoimmune diseases, inflammatory conditions, or certain cancers. Low ESR is less common but may occur with blood disorders. ESR is often used alongside other tests to diagnose or monitor chronic inflammatory conditions, though it's not specific to any single disease.

Cyclic citrullinated peptide Ab

Cyclic citrullinated peptide (CCP) antibodies are highly specific markers for rheumatoid arthritis (RA), an autoimmune condition causing joint inflammation. Unlike the older rheumatoid factor test, anti-CCP antibodies are present in early RA and predict disease progression and severity. A positive result strongly indicates RA, even before symptoms fully develop, making this test valuable for early diagnosis. Anti-CCP antibodies also appear years before symptoms, aiding in risk identification. This test guides treatment decisions and prognosis assessment.

Cyclic citrullinated peptide Ab.IgG

Cyclic citrullinated peptide (anti-CCP) antibodies are proteins your immune system produces against specific components found in inflamed joints. This test detects these antibodies in blood or body fluid. Anti-CCP antibodies are highly specific for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and can be present years before symptoms develop. A positive result suggests an increased risk of developing RA or indicates existing rheumatoid arthritis. This test is valuable for early diagnosis and predicting disease severity, enabling earlier treatment to prevent joint damage.

Nuclear Ab

Nuclear antibodies are proteins your immune system produces that attack the nucleus of your own cells. This test uses immunofluorescence to detect and measure these antibodies in synovial fluid (joint fluid). Elevated levels are commonly associated with autoimmune diseases like lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and Sjögren's syndrome. A positive result suggests the immune system is attacking the body's own cells.
